More Than Just a Football Game

Some of these rivalries stretch back more than a century. The Needham-Wellesley rivalry began in 1882 and is recognized as the oldest public high school football rivalry in the country. Boston Latin and English High have their own remarkable history, with a Thanksgiving rivalry dating to 1887.

But you don't need a century of history to appreciate the atmosphere. There's something wonderful about seeing neighbors greet one another in the stands, former classmates reunite, and young athletes represent the towns they call home.

Whether Thanksgiving football has been a family tradition for generations or you're thinking of starting a new one, consider heading to a local game. Bundle up, grab a warm drink, and enjoy a little hometown spirit before the holiday festivities begin.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, good company, and the traditions that make New England feel like home!
